VARIOUS REASONS GIVEN NEWS OF RELATIVES SOUGHT P.A. AUCKLAND, May 22. Chinese who have been resident in New Zealand for many years are steadily returning to their homeland, some to bring their families back here, and others in search of news of their relatives, who have disappeared during the fighting in China. This was stated by Mr Tom Doo, jun., at Whenuapai this morning, when a compatriot was leaving for Sydney by air, and thence to Canton. . , . ... Mr Doo. who is interpreter at the Police Court, added that if a Chinese had been in New Zealand for 20 years, he was then entitled to bring his relatives to live with him. The return trip costs about £SOO.
