FIRE STATION CONTROL

WELLINGTON TRAFFIC LIGHTS P.A. WELLINGTON, May 21. A recommendation of the Road Safety Council that fire engines should stop at red traffic lights is to be met in Wellington with the control of traffic lights from the Central Fire Station. This will enable fire engines to drive straight through to the scene of a fire. Reporting on the matter to the Fire Board to-day, the superintendent, Mr C A Woolley, said it had been decided’ to control the traffic lights from the fire station before the war, but the proposal had been held up until now.
