Special Meeting Demanded By Borough Councillors

North Otago News

In accordance with the Standing Orders and the Municipal Corporations Act and its amendments, the' following councillors have demanded a special meeting of the Oamaru Borough Council on Monday next at 4.45 p.m.—Crs J. Meiklo, D. S. Bain, H. R. Wise, W. R. Laney, and B. Steven. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the following notices of motion:—

Cr Bain will move.—“ That the engineer be instructed to proceed to Clyde before May 26 for the purpose of inspecting a Caterpillar grader offered for sale by tender by the Vincent County, and that he be authorised to submit on behalf of the council a tender up to £IOOO, exclusive of repairs or freight, or alternatively an amount to be fixed by the council at this meeting." Cr Wise will move,—“ That the engineer may with the authority of the Works Committee or Finance Committee and the knowledge of the Mayor and town clerk, leave the town for a reasonable time to make inquiries and investigations as directed or required by either committee." A postscript to the notice of the meeting states that if it suits the Mayor and the councillors, signatories of this petition do not object to the discussion being token by the council in committee.
