BIRD SHOW

RECORD ENTRIES DOMINION TITLES AT STAKE The holding of a number of New Zealand and South Island championships in conjunction with the annual show of the Kaikorai-Wakari Poultry, Pigeon, and Cage Bird Club added a considerable degree of interest to the show and the record number of 650 entries was received. The Coronation Hall, Maori Hill, was the centre of attraction for bird fanciers in Dunedin yesterday and every class of exhibit had its coterie of admirers. There was a particularly large increase this year in the number of budgerigars and canaries entered, the total being 170. The domestic poultry section was a close second with 150 entries. There was, however, a notable decline in the number of pigeons forward. '■

Lucas, of Dunedin, the best Utility Wyandotte was shown by Mr E. H. Griffin, of Christchurch, and the champion Black Pekin Bantam was owned by Mr D. Calvert, of Invercargill. Other Dominion championships were won by Mr P. H. Bridges (Yellow Yorkshire Canary, unflighted) and Mr E. Tonkins (Yellow Yorkshire Canary, flighted, and Yorkshire Canary, any other colour!.
