LARGE INCREASE

FUNDS RAISED BY STREET APPEAL Y.M.C.A. BOYS’ WORK An increase of nearly 70 per cent, was recorded in the result of the Y.M.C.A. Boys’ Street Day Appeal held in the city yesterday. The total sum raised was £390, or nearly £l6O more than what was obtained last year. Speaking to the Daily Times last night, the secretary, Mr J. H. Don Miller, said that the executive was “ rather pleased ” with the response. Expectations had been greatly exceeded as it had been considered that the United Nations Appeal for Distressed Children would have affected the public’s response. , Mr Miller added that the purpose of the appeal was to raise funds to meet the cost of the specialised boys’ work carried out by the organisation.
