CALL TO ROSLYN

PRESBYTERIAN MINISTER The Rev. L. Jones, of Riverton, accepted a call to the Roslyn Presbyterian Church, Dunedin, at a meeting of the Southland Presbytery on Wed-, nesday. The T. M. McDonald and J. A. Thomson spoke on behalf of the Dunedin Presbytery in support of the call. Both commissioners referred to the suitability of Mr Jones to fulfil his exacting duties in his new charge. Messrs. D. M. Black, W. G. Russell and A. B. Helm, commissioners from the Riverton congregation, spoke highly of Mr Jones’s outstanding work in the pulpit, his contribution to youth work, and his service to the community. He had worked his way into the hearts of the Riverton people. It would be Roslyn’s gain and their loss. They did not wish to place any obstacle in his way, but wished him success in his new charge. In reply, Mr Jones thanked the presbytery for the expressions of goodwill. Mr Jones has been minister of the Riverton Presbyterian Church for the past three years. The Rev. L. K. Ker was appointed interim moderator of the Riverton charge.
