TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD

The Music of Shakespeare The monthly meeting of the Townswomen’s Guild was held in the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Hall. Miss Ford, the vice-president, occupied the chair. It was decided to hold a concert and tea in aid of the fund for parcels for Britain, as members wished to continue sending parcels to the North Harrow Guild in London. A programme of “ Music of William Shakespeare ” was presented by Mrs White’s party: Mrs Wakefield Holmes gave a short sketch of Shakespeare's life and the circumstances around which the songs were written. These were sung by Mesdames White and Fochen and Miss Errington, and a violin solo was played by Miss S. Bayley. Mrs P. Dick was the accompanist.
