CHARM BRACELET

An Interesting Accessory The smart woman of to-day, who is alive to the importance of accessories, has revived an 'idea of many years ago, the “ charm ” bracelet. Miss Ruth French, of London, who has recently been in Dunedin, has already collected something like a dozen charms and trinkets fo r her bracelet (only a few months old), which is of heavy silver chain, with most of the “ charms ” also in silver. Among the coink are her first New Zealand threepence and an American cent obtained at Curacao. A silver “ gremlin,” familiar to aviators, and a tiny washing machine are interesting pieces, while a tiki, a greenstone Maori mere, and a trinket of paua shell are very recent acquisitions. On one such bracelet seen in Dunedin every charm was of greenstone, but the average woman would probably find that a happy mixture of trinkets was more easily collected. Antique shops are a good hunting ground, while old, almost forgotten boxes of Victorian trinkets have been known to yield some interesting pieces. In any case, the possessor of one of these bracelets will find that, not only will she derive a certain amount of pleasure from the actual collecting of the charms, but also that it may afford a ready topic for the opening of a conversation.
