MEAGRE RATES

OVERTIME FOR NURSES FURTHER ACTION SUGGESTED P.A. DANNEVIRKE, May 20. Criticism of the “ meagre and miserable ” rates of overtime pay for nursing staffs was expressed at a meeting of the Dannevirke Hospital Board. Members were unanimous that the suggested new'rates of overtime pay were inadequate, and the general feeling was that application should be made to the Hospital Boards’ Association to have further consideration given the matter. Mrs K. L. Young commented: “ Surely we can make some protest about the overtime rate. It is nothing but an insult to the nursing profession to offer them 10 per cent. It is a miserable pittance, and something should be done.”
