FORBURY PARK CLUB

MEETING OF COMMITTEE A meeting of the committee of the Forbury Park Trotting Club, held lat>l night, was presided over by Mr B. S. Irwin, and others present were—Messrs A. Ferguson, W. Adamson, T. Fogg, D, C. Jolly, F. M. Anderson, J. A. Macdonald. R. K. Aitclieson,/G. J. Barton and C. R. Hadfield. Motions of sympathy were passed with the relatives of Messrs E. J. Wilson and W. Stiglich, two members of the club whose deaths occurred recently. Reports on the centennial meeting were received from the stipendiary steward, the racecourse inspector, and tire gates inspector. The last-named stated that on the first day of the meeting 18,168 people passed through the turnstiles, and on the second day the number was 13,112. The balance sheet of the centennial meeting was presented, and showed a substantial profit. It was decided to nominate Mr J. M. Samson for re-election to the New Zealand Trotting Association. The application of L. G. Vernall for a trainer’s licence was recommended. Mr E. J. Doogue, who has been transferred to a position in the North Island, wrote tendering his resignation as a member of the committee. The chairman said opportunity had been taken to express to Mr Doogue the committee's appreciation of his services. The secretary of the R.S.A. wrote expressing the association’s appreciation of the club’s action in extending privileges and hospitality to the members of the delegation of Australian ex-servicemen which recently visited Dpnedin. The chairman was appointed the club’s delegate to the annual meeting of the Trotting Conference in August. It was decided to apply for the following dates for next season:—October 9 and 16, January 22 and 29, and April 23 and 30. The Caversham Harrier Club .was granted permission to hold a three-mile race on the club's course on June 5.
