PRESIDENT OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL

RIO DE JANIERO, Rec. 8 p.m. May 18. Mr Angus S. Mitchell, of Melbourne, was elected president of Rotary International at the two-day plenary session of the organisation’s thirty-ninth convention. Mr Mitchell is the first Australian to be nominated for the post of world Rotary president. He has been a director of Rotary International and has travelled widely for the organisation. Interviewed in Auckland on his way to the conference, Mr Mitchell expressed a strong belief in the important influence of the movement in world affairs.
