No 111-effects from Restoration

P.A. INVERCARGILL, May 19. Comment on the effect of the restoration of liquor licence to. Invercargill was made by Mr H. Ritchie, president of the Southland Building Society to-night. “To those persons who were apprehensive about the restoration of.licence in the city I wish to state that in spite of an annual expenditure of more than £250,000 on drink, repayments on loans are being well maintained and we have no very serious cases of arrears -J3n our books,” he declared. “ I am not making this statement to justify the restoration of drink in the city but it shows we are no worse off under licence and that there have been tremendous purchases of drink from outside sources previously.”
