BEQUEST TO BREWERY

PA. AUCKLAND, May 19. After making a number of private bequests, a blind man, Mr Richard Charles, a retired packer, aged about 84, left the balance of his estate to his former employers, the brewery firm of Campbell and Ehrenfried, of Auckland. Mr Charles also left £IOO to the New Zealand Institute for the Blind, Auckland, where he died on May 1. When Mr Charles had worked for the firm for about a quarter of a century, the firm provided him with a pension of £2 a week. “We were very surprised to hear that Mr Charles remembered the firm in his will,’’ said Mr A. E. Bollard, of Campbell and Ehrenfried. “ I think the reason is that he was very grateful for the pension.” The bequest would be discussed at a board meeting.
