By the Sporting Editor May 22 Wellington T.C. May 29 .. .. .. Canterbury Park T.C. June 5, 7 .... Ashburton T.C. Jottings Nominations for the winter meeting of the Ashburton Club are due to-day. Reclamation has had one win and 11 placings in 20 starts this season. A five-year-old gelding by Bill B from Bingen s Best, he is one of those on the front mark in the two events for trotters at Hutt Park. Third at Auckland After breaking during the running, Caudray finished third to Single Direct and Doctor Ted in the Freyberg Handicap at Auckland. Judged on that form, he is entitled to consideration for the Winter Handicap at Hutt Park, in which he is on 12 yards. Suited by Distance Bonnv Clare, one of the front-markers in the Winter Handicap at Hutt Park, did not race prominently at the Addington Easter meeting, but prior to that she had won the Timaru Cup in attractive style. The distance of Saturday’s race should suit the Grattan Loyal mare. Bred to Win Red Hussar raced below expectations at the Forbury Park meeting, but that was not his true form. He has the breeding to win good races, and should race prominently from the front of the Winter Handicap and the Farewell Handicap at Hutt Park. Due for Improvement The Quite Sure pacer Whipster is due to show improvement, and he is not likely to be neglected in the betting on the Wai-iti Trot at Washdyke on Saturday. His best performance this season was in the New Zealand Pacing Stakes at Addington in March, when he ran third to two particularly smart performers in Belmont Hall and Attack. Finished Fast Worthy Ace finished very fast to get up for fourth in the Beaconsfield Trot at Washdyke. It was a good performance, as he was one of the back-markers, and had to thread his way through a big field. In Favour County Antrim, one of the favourites for the principal event at the Wellington meeting on Saturday, went 3min 32 l-ssec over a mile and a-half in company with Doonholme at Addington on Tuesday morning. Hutt Park Prospect The Dillon Hall three-year-old Pierre won the Washdyke Trot at the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting last month. Grand Fleet and Gloxania being in the places. He has been started in nine races this season, and in addition to his win he has been placed three times. Trained by K. J Berry, he was got from Mademoiselle, by Rey de Oro from Fair Lady, by Our Thorpe from Lady Rothsoon, by Harold Rothschild. Pierre is engaged at the Wellington Meeting. Engaged at Hutt Park Swanee River has been a fairly consistent performer this season, his record being 10 starts for three wins and four placings. At the Hutt Park meeting in February he won the Kaitoke Handicap from Who Knows and Suzerain, and on the same course last month he finished fourth in the Army Handicap to Sandy Duval, Voco Power and Logan Max. He is engaged in bolh events for trotters at tire Wellington meeting on Saturday.
