IMPORTED FROM ENGLAND

WANAKA BREEDER SHOWS ENTERPRISE

Mr H. W. S. Faulks, of Mount Barker stud, Wanaka, has secured the English-bred horse Equipped for stud duty. Equipped is a five-year-old stallion by Umidwar. a son of Blandford, from Banana, a half-sister by Camcronian to Lord Bobs. The stallion arrived at Wanaka at the week-end. Speaking by telephone from Wanaka last night, Mr Faulks told the Daily Times that Equipped had reached his stud In excellent condition after a sea voyage from England, followed by a rail journey from Lyttelton to Cromwell, and the balance of the trip to Wanaka by float. Mr Faulks said that the stallion had won a few races up to one mile and a-half in England, and had been placed in other races. He described Equipped as particularly strong shouldered and quartered, nearly black in appearance. Ho comes from both a stayihg and sprinting family, and should breed stayers, Mr Faulks said, Mr Faulks, whose stud is well known in the South Island, said he had not imported any stud horses before and it was his intention to mate Equipped with Royal Chiefs progeny The stallion was from the same family as Foxbridge. which was the leading sire in New Zealand for many years. Equipped’s dam. Hanana. was a halfsister to Lord Bobs, who died this year. Blandford, a well-known English stud horse, was out of Uganda, who was a winner of the Oaks. Mr Faulks said that Equipped would begin his stud duties in the spring.
