EXPLANATION BY MINISTER PA. WELLINGTON, May 18. “This is in accord with advice received by the New Zealand Government and published during the past 12 months,” said the Minister of Customs, Mr Nash, when the statement by the Federated Farmers that Britain was over-committed to such an extent that it had become necessary for her to freeze New Zealand’s sterling balances in London was referred to him this evening. „ , , , "Britain desires New Zealand during the current year to confine her imports to the credits she is able to build up from the sale of her exports,” he said.
