High Standard of Chrysanthemum Blooms

Chrysanthemums of excellent quality were exhibited in large numbers at the show. Most of the blooms were grown locally, but the standard was stated by the judges to compare most favourably with that at the national show, last week.

The champion of champions in the single chrysanthemum section was J. B. McConnell’s “Centenary" and the champion large flowering bloom was G. Attwood’s “Patricia Barnett.’ The champion decorative was G. H Elliffe’s “A. K. Wilson.” H. S. Hungerford won the Alex. Stewart Cup for the best seedling and S. J. Webb exhibited the best decorative double seedling. , The premier blooms were:—Singles: Red, J. B. McConnell’s “Centenary;” white, J. B. McConnell’s “ H. J. Irvine; ” pink, H. S. Hungerford’s “Pride of Leith; ” bronze, S: J. Webb’s “ On Parade; ” yellow, J. B. McConnell’s “ Tripoli; ” any other colour, Invercargill Horticultural Society’s “Tunisia.” Large flowe’ring: red, A. Ross’s “George Munro, Jr; ” white, N. Coutts’s “ William Turner;” yellow, G. Attwood’s “ Patricia Barnett; ” pink, N. Coutts’s « t W. Pockitt; ” bronze, S. J.
