SCOTTISH SOCIETY

The monthly social and dance of the Scottish Society of Dunedin was held in the Crawford Lounge on Saturday night, a large number of members and friends being present. The members of the executive were piped to the platform by Piper H. Crawford. The president, Mr G. W. Mbody, occupied, the chair and extended a cordial welcome to Mr T. dimming, president of the Bay of Islands Scottish Society, and all present. The president of the Otago Scottish Council, Mr G. Borwick, was piped into the hall by Piper A. Stewart with the “ Fiery Cross ” which was brought back to Dunedin by Sir John Falconer and will be exhibited at all Scottish functions held in the city. A vote of thanks was accorded the performers on the motion of the vice-president, Mr J. L. Thomson. Items were given by Miss Mary Mains, Miss Shirley Legal and Mr L. V. Stewart, a sailor’s hornpipe by Miss Rachel Anderson, and the Highland fling by Misses Daphne and Paula Taylor. The remainder of the evening was spent in old-time dancing, the M.C being Mr C. E. Brown.
