SOCIAL EVENING

Visiting Women Teachers At a social evening held for visiting members of the New Zealand Women Teachers’ Association in the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Hall on Friday evening Miss G. Parry, president of the Dunedin branch of the association, welcomed the guests and presented delegates and members of the executive with sprays. The Dominion president, Miss C. M. Rains, thanked the Otago branch and also Dr Emily H. McKinnon, who had taken visitors to see the Memorial Shrine of the Pioneer Women’s Association. Other speakers were Mrs W. K. Cameron, representing the National Council of Women, Dr McKinnon, representing the Pioneer Women’s Association, Miss M. V. Kennedy, the incoming president. Miss Vera Hayward, and Miss M. H. Henderson, Dunedin members of the New Zealand Executive. A programme of competitions and vocal solos was arranged by Miss Doris Petrie, the performers being Misses S. Martin, J. McKenzie, and M. Hill. The accompanists were Miss Jean Hendra and Miss M. H. Henderson. Mrs P. Pearson thanked the performers, and Miss G. Riddle spoke on behalf of the visitors,.
