OAMARU COMPETITIONS

CENTENNIAL FESTIVAL RECORD ENTRIES Special to the Daily Times OAMARU, May 17. The Centennial Festival of the Oamaru Competitions Society commenced to-day at the Opera House and Wear Street Hall. Up to the time of closing of entries, 1755 competitors had entered in the 114 classes. This constitutes a record for the society. During the evening session the Mayor, Mr M. F. E. Cooney, declared the festival officially opened, and congratulated the society on the success that was attending its efforts. To-day’s results:— Reading at Sight, under 16 years.
