HARD FORWARD PLAY

DRAWN GAME AT MOSGIEL Alhambra and Taieri drew 6—all in a hard match at Mosgiel, in which the forwards dominated play. Each team’s points came from a try and a penalty goal. Play was spirited throughout, but, although given plenty of the ball, neither of the back lines made much use of it.. The Alhambra forwards, among whom Michie was brilliant in the line outs and Matheson showed up in the loose, showed a marked improvement on recent games. The Talerl pack, in which Johnstone and Ferguson were prominent, co-operated effectively with the backs on defence. The Taieri backs initiated some promising movements. For Taieri. Frew scored a try and Blackie kicked a penalty goal. Matheson scored for Alhambra, and Michie kicked a penalty goal. The referee was Mr J. King.
