FOOD-SAVING CAMPAIGN

COUPON COLLECTION DOUBLED P.A. WELLINGTON, May 14. Meat and butter coupons saved throughout New Zealand during the week ended May 8 to provide more food for the people of Britain were nearly 50 per cent, more than the previous week. Meat coupons totalled 150,661 and butter coupons 4927. Christchurch climbed from tenth place in the previous week to fifth place, having more than doubled the number of meat coupons for the district, while the butter coupons saved were five times as much. Ashburton filled first place and Gisborne second place. Wellington, which saved 37 butter coupons and 882 meat coupons, was at the bottom of the list.
