Single Direct is in brilliant form and should add to his stake winnings to-day. He is now assessed on 4.20. Trustee will appeal to place-bettors in particular in his races at Auckland today. - f Air Mail is due to win a race at any time now. Her second at Auckland last Saturday was a good effort. Strong Hand With the bracket of Likely and Congo Song, A. Holmes holds a strong hand In two events at Auckland to-day. Better Terms Cossack was beaten by a neck by Big Guy at Auckland last Saturday and to-day meets the Josedale Grattan gelding on 36 yards’ better terms over half a .mile less ground. Cossack is an aged gelding by Swordsman from Betty Moko. and is now trianed by J. T. Paul. By Peter Bingen High Flight, the winner of the Mangere Handicap at Auckland last Saturday, is a five-year-old mare by Peter Bingen from First Flight, by Blue Mountain King from Guiding Star, by Logan Pointer. In her four most recent races she has scored three wins and a third. Promising Four-year-old Constellation, one of F. McKendry’s team, has had only four starts this season. At the Methven meeting in October she ran a dead-heat with Bull’s Eye in the first division of the Westward Ho Handicap, going 3min 44 4-ssec from a 3.56 mark. She is a four-year-old by Sandydale from Two Stars and is due to race in the Beaconsfield Handicap at Washdyke to-day. Engaged at Hutt Park Red Herring was a quiet tip for his races at the recent Forbury Park meeting. but did not run up to expectations. The Red Shadow gelding is an improved pacer and may race more prominently at Hutt Park next week. Due for Improvement Will Scarlett is due to show improvement before long. One of T. H. Gunning’s team, he is a four-year-old gelding by Sandvdaie from Sporting'Girl, and he has had a second, a third, and a fourth placing in five starts this season.
