OTAKI-MAORI PROSPECT Special to the Daily Times WELLINGTON, May 14. Heavy rain has fallen at Otaki during the week, and the going will be soft for the Otaki-Maori Racing Club's meeting to-morrow. Provision has been made to run three events in divisions, but this may be necessary only in the Tainui Hack Handicap, which is eight above the safety limit. In the Pukehou and Ohau Hack Handicaps only two scratchings are required to avoid divisions, and in each event there are several dual acceptors. Clare’s Pal is to contest the Pukehou Hack HandicStp, Alumnus the Tainui Hack Handicap, Silver Mascot the Waikanae Maiden No. 2, and Lord Theio the Ta Timi Kara Handicap. . „ . . Doubtful starters include Ring Scarf in the Rangluru Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase, Tanjeen in the Waikanae Maiden No. 1, Battle Spear in the Pukehou Hack Handicap, and Playtos in the Taipua Handicap. The only scratching to-day was Mine Host from the Tainui Hack Handicap. Betting will be win and place, anq the favourites may include:— Rangiuru Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase.—High Morale.
