TRANSPORT DEPOT

EXTENSIONS PLANNED BODY-BUILDING AND REPAIR WORK Greater activity at the Dunedin Transport Department’s depot is planned to include, a regular programme of body building for new motor buses, together with the overhaul and repair of tram cars and buses, as well as the more frequent repainting of all vehicles. To make provision for this, it is proposed to extend the present wood-working and coach-build-ing shop into the paint shop, and to provide a new paint shop over part of the> present car shed immediately south of the extended body shop. This information is contained in the report of the Transport Committee to be presented to a meeting of the City Council on Monday night. The report states that authority has been granted for the calling of tenders for the necessary alterations at the depot to provide for this proposed increased activity.
