RAILWAY MANAGEMENT

Sir,—We are indebted to Mr Gillespie, National M.P., for his remarks regarding the losses on the railways, which he said were due to bad management. It is interesting to recall that when thq National Party was in office, prior to the advent of the Labour Government, the taxpayers in six years had to " foot a bill ” of ovet £8,000,000. In addition to this, and during the same period, the salaries and conditions of the employees were slashed to the tune of over £2,500,000. This was the National Party’s idea of good management during those years.

Will Mr Gillespie tell the public whether these are the good management plans of his party, or have they some other . vicious plan to unload on the members of the service?—l am, etc., Unsuspecting Railwayman.
