FIRST LIFE MEMBER
SECONDARY SCHOOLS’ ASSOCIATION MR E. J. AIM ELECTED Mr E. J. Aim was yesterday elected the first life member of the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Association. For five years Mr Aim was secretarytreasurer of the association but resigned last year to take up his appointment as rector of the Otago Boys’ High School.
The president, Mr A. N. B. McAloon, remarked that the service Mr Aim had given to the association had few parallels in the history of the organisation. Appreciation of Mr Aim’s work was also expressed by several other teachers. In the annual report it was stated that during his term of office great changes had taken place in the teaching service and the association was indebted to Mr Aim for his unstinted work and capable handling of matters that had affected secondary teachers to such a great extent. The executive office-bearers elected were:—President, Mr O. J. Begg; vicepresidents, Mr A. N. B. McAloon; Miss T. C. Mahoney; principals’ representatives—Miss R. I. Gardner, Messrs G. Mcß. Suit and A. M. Nicholson; North Island representatives, Miss. E. K. Ryburn and Mr J. G. Brown; South Island representatives, Messrs W. I Shrimpton and R. Fraser; resident members, Miss D. McCartney and Mr J. R. Griffin.
Mr Begg, the newly-elected president, is rector of the Palmerston North Boys’ High School. Until last year he was first assistant at King’s High School, and he formerly was on the staff of the Otago Boys’ High School.
