CAREFULLY TENDED

GALLIPOLI AND EGYPTIAN WAR GRAVES P.A. AUCKLAND, May 12.

“ I am very pleased to report that the graves at Gallipoli and in Egypt are being tended with loving care by people who are taking more, than an ordinary interest in their jobs,” said Mr Cyril Bassett, V.C., on return by air to-day after representing the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association at Anzac Day services at Gallipoli. He added that the cemeteries are beautifully laid out. At the entrance to each is a tablet with the names of those commemorated on headstones and memorials. The plots are surrounded by rosemary bushes, Cyprus trees, and, wherever possible, flowers.
