DEATH SENTENCE

CASE OF GERMAN AWAITING EXECUTION Rec. 10 p.m. LONDON, May 12. The British press is giving publicity to the case of a 22-year-ofd German prisoner of war, Karl Kneissler, who was sentenced to death by a military court on January 17 for the murder of , a fellow prisoner and who has, now been in the condemned cell for four months awaiting execution. According to the Daily Express Kneissler is not affected by the abolition of the death penalty in Britain as he was sentenced by a military court. The case has been reported in the German press and has caused considerable German criticism of British judicial methods. The War Minister, Mr Shinwell. was asked about the case two months ago in the House of Commons, when he gave an assurance that a decision would be reached soon.
