Meeting of Association

Members of the Australian Returned Services’ League delegation which visited New Zealand recently were loud in their praise for the way in which they had been entertained, said Mr I. ‘T. Catto at the monthly meeting of the Oamaru Returned Services’ Association on Moncay night. They had stated that one of the features of their tour was the visit to the Waitaki Boys’ High School, and they had specially commented on the fine singing at the school. The Dunedin Association wrote asking the association to support its nomination of Mr S. G. Scoular as district vice-presi-dent for Otago and Southland at the annual general meeting of the Dominion R.S.A. in Wellington in June. —It was decided to support the nomination. The Waiareka Valley Committee advised that the following officers were elected at its annual meeting:—Chairman, Mr A. Rowlands; treasurer, Mr A. Forrest; secretary, Mr C. M. Scott.—lt was decided to send a letter to the committee and also to the Waitaki Sub-association thanking both for their work for returned servicemen.

The women’s section advised that its sixth birthday would be held on May 31, and members of the executive and their wives were invited to be present. —lt was decided, in view of the annual meeting on Saturday, to refer the letter to the incoming commiftee.

One new member was elected, and six inward transfers and five outward transfers wpre approved. The secretary, Mr A. C. Piper, reported that since the annual balance the membership had increased by 20. Messrs Burdett and Bremner were appointed hospital visitors for the month. Mr Catto expressed his thanks to the executive for ■ its co-operation and support during the year, and wished all success at the forthcoming elections.
