CHURCH PARADE YESTERDAY

A large number of ex-pupils attended the jubilee parade in Knox Church yesterday morning, among those present being Miss McMillan and Miss Maxwell, two of the earlier teachers of the school. The service was conducted by the Very Rev. Dr D. C. Herron, who gave an outline of the school’s history. He mentioned the great connection between Knox Church and the school. Many of the teachers had been closely associated with the welfare of the church. Quoting the incident in the school’s history when the walls fell in, Mr Herron said that for a man to build his fife well he must build on sure foundation. The lesson was read by the headmaster, Mr J. McK. Miller. It was Matthew 25, 14-29. After the service, the ex-pupils of the school remained inside the church and the chairman of the Ex-pupils’ Association, Mr W. Rutherford, expressed his keen appreciation of the big muster and of the way in which the minister and congregation had joined in the service.
