Negro Athletes Shatter Two World Records

Rec. 9 p.m. NEW YORK, Apl. 17. Two negroes, Charles Fonvillc and Harrison Dillard, shattered two world records at Lawrence, Kansas, to-day. Fonville, who weighs 1951 b, heaved the 161 b shot 58ft Olin, to beat the recognised world record of 57ft lin set in 1934 by the American, Jack Torrance. Dillard skimmed the 120 yards high hurdles in 13.6 sec—one-tenth of a second faster than the world record held by the Americans Forrest Towns and Fred Wolcott.
