CHRISTIAN BROTHERS’ SCHOOL

ONE RECORD BROKEN A heavy track and a fresh north-east wind hampered competitors at the annual sports meeting of the Christian Brothers' High School, held yesterday at Carisbrook. Times generally were rather slow, but in spite of the adverse conditions, one record was broken. Running in the 440 Yards Junior Cup event, B. Gallivan lowered the fastest time for the distance from 67 l-ssec to 65sec. Tile contestants were divided into four teams for an interhouse competition, the South district gaining a close win from feast. The Senior Championship was a clear victory for R. Muirhead, a promising allround athlete. Convincing wins were also scored by M. Ryan in the intermediate section, B. Gallivan in the junior division, and R. Stichbury in the midget class.
