A prophecy that New Zealand might soon stand .with Canada as one of the great aluminium-producing countries of .. the world was made by the Canadian magazine Financial Post recently. “It has been estimated that the South Island of New Zealand could produce more , than 1,000,000 horse-power for aluminium production,” says the article. " One esti- . mate of possible cost to produce 50,000 - tons of aluminium yearly is 32,000,000 dollars, but this is considered by experts as conservative. Also, this does not include <2 the cost of power development."
