MILITARY AWARDS

SERVICE TO COUNTRY VICE-REGAL INVESTITURE IMPRESSIVE CEREMONY The first military investiture held by the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, in Dunedin took place in the Concert Chamber last evening, the floor and gallery of the hall being more than • filled with relatives and friends of the recipients. The Gov-ernor-General and Lady Freyberg were attended by Major Neville Wigram, Flight Lieutenant M. J. B. Cole, Lieutenant D. M. Loran, and the honorary aides-de-camp. Commander A. C. Swanson and Wing Commander W. F. Kofoed. The Mayor, Mr Cameron, and Mrs Cameron, were also present. As their names were called, the recipients marched forward, stood in the body of the hall while a resume of the citation was read, and then moved up to the stage. The medals were pinned to the recipients' tunics by the Gov-ernor-General, following which each man shook hands with their Excellencies. and returned to the body of the hall.
