—U *D-Vice-Regal The Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, and Lady Freyberg, attended by Lieutenant David Lorarn. R.N.. paid a visit to Ross Home, North-East Valley, yesterday morning. Her Excellency visited the Otago Women’s Club in the afternoon, and his Excellency held a military Investiture in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall in the evening. Her Excellency was present at the ceremony. Mr Leslie E. Bullock will leave Dunedin on Friday for Wellingtotn, where he will take up a position as branch manager of the Liverpool and London and Globe Insurance Company. Mr J. W. Perry, of Auckland, was reelected president of the New Zealand Master Butchers’ Industrial Union of Employers at the annual general meeting held yesterday. Mr A. T. B. Green was reelected secretary. Dr E. I. Robertson, M.Sc., Ph. D.. London. has been appointed a senior geophysicist in the geological survey branch of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, where he will be employed In ihe location of minerals and the investigation of dam sites. Dr Robertson was educated at Hutt Valley High School, Victoria University College, and he won a Shirteliffe Scholarship. Mr H. Harris, of Dunedin, was elected a life member of the Federation of Master Printers of New Zealand at a sitting of the federation. A well-known member of many organisations in the city. Mr Harris has been associated with the federation since its foundation 41 years ago.
