An experiment that may yield thousands of extra acres for food cultivation has been started along the Barnet road in Middlesex. “Pocket-sized” tractor ploughs are being used to turn up the wide grass verges and barley will be sown as a test crop. If this experiment is successful the idea will probably be taken up throughout the country.
