RABBITS LIBERATED IN SANCTUARY

P.A. * WELLINGTON, Mar. 1. The Minister of Internal Affairs. Mr Parry, to-day condemned the irresponsible action of unknown persons who had liberated rabbits on Leper Island, a small island north of Somes Island, in Wellington Harbour, describing it as “just another case of the type of illegal foolish action which so accentuated New Zealand’s difficulties in regard to animal pests.” Within three days 101 rabbits had been killed there.
