“BE PREPARED”

SIR KEITH PARK’S ADVICE SECURITY NOT YET ASSURED P.A. ' AUCKLAND, Feb. 24. “We have not yet in sight a League of Nations or a United Nations. Organisation which can settle disputes between the nations,” said Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park when replying to a welcome extended, to him and to Lady Park at a reception given in their honour by the Auckland branch of the Air Force Association. He said that all the Security Council had done so far was 'to aggravate the differences in outlook between the late Allies. “ I do not want to suggest that 1 defend war,- but we have to be prepared, so that the other , side will not be so stupid as to start a war of aggression in the next 10 or 15 years." said Sir Keith. “If you want health, you have to work for it; and if you want peace, you have to work for it. I do not suggest that we should start to build up a whacking great air force, navy and army that the country could not afford, but we must be prepared. War is a senseless, wasteful and inefficient method of settling differences between nations.”
