LORNEVILLE SALE
INCREASED YARDINGS pA. INVERCARGILL, Feb. 10. Prices on a par with those of last week were obtained at the Lorneville sale today, and yardings in all sections showed an increase. The fat sheep entry was medium, consisting mainly of wethers., most of which were hoggets of medium to light-weight quality. Prices generally were easier by 2s to 3s a head. Quotawethers made from 49s to 51s 6d: medium-weight, 43s 6d to 465, good-quality hoggets, to 525; light-weights, 43s 6d to 465; small and unfinished, 37s to 40s; good-quality maiden ewes, 35s to 38s; butchers’ ewes, 30s to 31s 6d; overweights and unfinished, 26s to 27s 6d. The fat cattle entry was chiefly lightweight steers and heifers, with the usual percentage of cows, but good-quality heavy-weight cattle were In short supply. Quotations:— Medium-weight bullocks made from £22 to £24; handy-weights, £2O to £2l 10s; light-weights, £l7 to £lB 10s; small, £ls 10s to £l6; good-quality medium-weight heifers, £l6 10s to £18; light-weights £l4 to £ls 10s; small, £l2 10s to £l3 10s; good-quality heavy-weight cows, £l7 10s to £l9 ss; medium-weights, £ls to £l6 10s; lighter weights, £l2 to £l3 10s; aged, £8 to £9 10s.
