CONVICTED OF THEFT
WOMAN REMANDED FOR SENTENCE PA AUCKLAND, Feb. 10. The trial of Nora Catherine Lee, aged 47, on four charges of shoplifting ended in her conviction for . theft from two city firms and her acquittal on two other charges. She was remanded for sentence. The jury was absent for three and thjee-quarter hours before reaching a decision, The trial was conducted by Mr Justice Finlay. , , , , , The Crown case depended largely on the evidence of a 14-year-old niece of the accused who said she had companied her aunt and was associatea with her in taking goods from four city stores. His Honor, in summing up, drew attention to evidence that corroborated the girl’s story and said the case resolved itself into the very simple issue of whether the . whole story had been manufactured by the girl or whether her evidence .was to be believed.
