STOPPAGES PROBABLE P.A. WELLINGTON, Feb. 10. Stop-work meetings of passenger transport drivers will be held at Eastbourne at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, and at Palmerston North at 11 a.m. the following Wednesday, February 25. A general stoppage of passenger transport in and from these centres may occur while the meetings last. The secretary of the Wellington Drivers’ Union, Mr T. Magee, announced after a meeting of the executive of the union to-night that it had been decided to call stop-work meetings to enable the officials to put before the drivers details of the negotiations with the employers for a new award. The meetings would involve all drivers in the Eastbourne and Palmerston North areas who were covered by the New Zealand Passenger Transport Drivers’ Award.
