He was given the full maximum weight laid down in the recently-amended conditions 'for the Doncaster Handicap and Sydney Cup. Columnist with 9.7 is required to concede the New Zealand champion, Beau le Havre, lib in the Sydney Cup. He concedes the Melbourne Cup winner, Hiraji, 121 b. Beau le, Havre is favoured by the maximum handicap weight for the Sydney Cup. At 9.6 he comes in lib less than Columnist, whereas in the Australian Cup the handicapper has awarded him the top weight of 9.11.
