President’s Handicap Field

FOXCHASE MAY IMPROVE \ The running of the Gore Racing Club Handicap next Saturday should throw some light on the prospects for the Dunedin Centennial Cup as seven of the runners at Gore have been nominated for the big event at Wingatui. Eriskay, top-weight at Gore with 8.10, has been a consistent galloper this season, having collected two wins and six placings in 10 starts. In her last start, at Invercargill on January 3, she finished second to Spare Part in the Southland Handicap after leading into the straight. They each carried 8:6. , Foxchase, 8.9, was finishing on in the Winton Cup and is likely to be more prominent at the finish of the Gore Handicap, the extra distance of will be to his liking. Sea Power is a hard puller and will probably run himself out before, the end of the mile and a-half journey, but the consistent Air Ace, 8.7, must be placed among the possibilities. Pride of Mossburn finished third to Spare Part and Eriskay in the Southland Handicap and will meet Eriskay on 21b better terms. The boom horse of the moment, Sir Garnish, has 7.9 and the public will have little difficulty in locating the favourite. Others likely to be considered are Foxchase, Eriskay, and Air Ace.
