LAUNCH ALERT
RETURN TO DUNEDIN
After an absence of some months, the launch Alert returned to Dunedin yesterday. During the time she was away, she undertook a visit to the Snares, south of Stewart Island, wdh a group of scienlists and ornithologists on board and while the Wairua was undergoing repairs at Port Chalmers she made several trips at the request of the Marine Department to Puysegur Point with stores for the lighthouse there. . . , . Overhauled and painted at Bluff, the former naval harbour defence launch now presents a sleek appearance. The owner, Mr A. J. Black, who is Dominion commissioner of Sea Scouts, intended to take several scouts on a voyage north towards the end of April, but he told the Daily Times yesterday that the infantile paralysis epidemic restrictions might interfere with the plans which had been made. _
