NEW MAGISTRATE
APPOINTMENT OF AUCKLAND BARRISTER P.A. WELLINGTON, Jan. 23. The Minister of Justice, Mr Mason, has announced the appointment of Mr H. Jenner Wily, of Auckland, as a stipendiary magistrate. Mr Wily has been appointed to fill the complement of magistrates consequent on the retirement of Mr J. Miller, S.M. His location has not yet been determined, but in the meantime he will be relieving at Napier. Mr Wily, who was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in 1923, has been practising his profession in Pukekohe, and later in Auckland, since 1924. He is the author of “Wily's Magistrate's Courts Practice in New Zealand." He is also responsible for a supplement to “ Garrow’s Crimes Act," and last year his work on “ New Zealand Justices of the Peace and Police Court Practice ” was published: . Mr Wily, who is 46, joined the military forces in July, 1940, and spent three years mobilised in the territorial forces. He reached the rank of major, and was second in command of a field artillery regiment. He was demobilised in October, 1943, and resumed practice in Auckland.
