Because of the .poor condition of many bridges throughout the country, power is given to local bodies to fix more expeditiously than is possible under the pre s ent by-laws a weight limit for heavy vehicles using such bridges. . Local authorities may, on receipt of a certificate of a registered engineer, post at each end of >a bridge notices fixing the weight limit for traffic over the bridge. The Minister of Transport may, however, ordpr the removal of. weight limits at any time.
