VEHICLE WEIGHT LIMITS
GREATER PROTECTION TO ROAD BRIDGES PA WELLINGTON, Jan. 23. An amendment to the heavy motor vehicles regulations issued to-n}gnt J u intended to afford better to road bridges. Because of the .poor condition of many bridges throughout the country, power is given to local bodies to fix more expeditiously than is possible under the pre s ent by-laws a weight limit for heavy vehicles using such bridges. . Local authorities may, on receipt of a certificate of a registered engineer, post at each end of >a bridge notices fixing the weight limit for traffic over the bridge. The Minister of Transport may, however, ordpr the removal of. weight limits at any time.
