FINAL PREPARATIONS
TRANS-TASMAN YACHT RACE CRAFT ASSEMBLE AT AUCKLAND P a AUCKLAND, Jan. 23. Yachtsmen taking part in the transTasman race, which starts here at 10 a.m. to-morrow, were busy to-day on the final preparations. ‘ ... The Wellington craft, Te Hongi, had not arrived by noon to-day, and if she does not start there will still be seven certain entrants in the race. : > They are the Auckland yachts Rangi and Drifter; and the Tauranga jacht, Seaward, the Australian craft Kurrewa 111, Wayfarer, and Peer Gynt, and also the Pagan, skippered by C. Weld, of Maine, United States, who sailed his vessel single-handed from. Panama. Kurrewa 111, which ,is a 58-foot ketch, is the largest craft in the race. The Pagan, which is a 26-foot doubleended cutter, is the smallest. The ' Auckland craft, La Paloma, probably will not start, and Te Rapunga has withdrawn.
