DOMINION’S ALLOCATION

P.A. WELLINGTON, Jan. 2. The London Coal Committee has allocated 20,000 tons of steam coal from Britain for the New Zealand railways. Mr C. H. Benney, Undersecretary for Mines, announced this to-night when a Press Association cablegram from London saying that British coal would be loaded this month for the Dominion was referred to him. Mr Benney said the 20,000 tons was allocated for the months of January and February. Negotiations for supplies of British coal had been proceeding for some time.
