CO-OPERATION REFUSED
COMPILING OF FOOD SURVEY SOVIET MEMBER ON ZONAL COMMITTEE Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 30. The Berlin correspondent of The Times says that the Russian authorities in Berlin had refused to co-operate with. the.other three occupying Powers in providing the United Nations with a report on the German food situation. A request for a factual report came in a letter from the Director-general of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, which was considered at ‘yesterday’s meeting of the Co-ordinating. Committee of the Allied Control Council. The letter said chat the information was required for lhe plans of the United Nations to improve the general world food situation
The. British, American, and French members of the committee suggested tha 4 a comprehensive report covering all four zones of Germany should be sent to the United Nations, but the Russian member would not agree saying that as there was no economic unity in Germany, the German food situation could not be dealt with as a whole, but only on a zonal basis. After further discussion, the subject was withdrawn from the committee’s agenda. ■
